Berlin UNICEF Benefit Concert by Barenboim + Rattle for Japan earthquake/tsunami vicitims

Both the Berlin Philharmonic and the Berlin Staatskapelle Orchestra will perform a benefit concert for victims of Japan’s earthquake next week, Tuesday 29th March in Berlin.

The concert will take place at the Berliner Philharmonie and will be conducted respectively by both the orchestra’s principal conductors Sir Simon Rattle and Daniel Barenboim.

Proceeds of the concert will be presented to Japanese victims through the offices of UNICEF.

Rattle will lead the Philharmonic in Johannes Brahms’ 4th Symphony and Barenboim will conduct the Staatskapelle orchestras in the 6th Symphony by Pyotr Tchaikovsky.

The proceeds of the concert will be presented to Japanese victims through the offices of UNICEF.

Those unable to attend the concert – there will be a webcast of the performance – and these proceeds will also be contributed.
