Berlin is that kind of a city – artistic people want to express themselves …and what better way than just painting or stenciling on some un-used brick wall!
Todays pictures a huge billboard sized face at the corner of Holzmarktstraße. and Michaelbrücke in Berlin Friedrichshain / Kreuzberg.
They were sent by a Dutch tourist who stayed at OTA-Berlin serviced apartments last month, February 2012.
While they are not really Grafitti in the strict sense – that will not stop us from not publishing them – no one is perfect and certainly not this blog!
While this borders on not being real Graffiti – there seems to have been a computer projector on the ground to have helped make it– it could fall under the banner of progressive graffiti because it engages the local art community.
Owners of businesses may well ask that when someone paints a Mona Lisa on the side of your business it is not really relevant if it is great art or not – what matters is if you want it there or not!
It remains to be seen how long this `progressive` or non-obtrusive graffiti can itself remain free of the graffiti `cover-everything` idiots who are everywhere in Berlin.
Already on the left you can see how some miscreants have already started their idiotic anarchistic spray painting over the portrait.
Send in any pictures you may have of Berlin Grafitti and we will publish it for you.
OTA-Berlin has a special section for local Grafitti on its gallery at – http://www.ota-berlin.de/english/gallery
