The Berlin Piano Festival from 26 May-2 June 2012 is the first music festival, organized by the British-born Barnaby Weiler in Berlin.

He is inviting pianists to Berlin, which are not usually or otherwise rarely heard here- so good on him and we wish him every success with this great idea.

Among the striking, unusual but exceptional pianists are Stephen Hough, the well-born Englishman the Tchaikovsky Prize-winner Freddy Kempf, and the 19 year old Benjamin Grosvenor, the French piano star Alexandre Tharaud and lastly the legend of the Russian Piano School Elisso Virsaladze.

The program ranges from the German premiere of rarely heard works up to the familiar and beloved piano repertoire – thus a lot of Ludwig van Beethoven and thus we put his portrait above. “With a repertoire from the Baroque to a German premiere, from the seldom heard to the much-loved. “

The Piano Festival will last almost one week and will be held in the most  respected of Berlin’s chamber music halls – namely  the small hall of the Berlin Konzerthaus – Gendarmenmarkt  10117 Berlin, Germany. [see map below]

The prices are reasonable for the pre-eminence and quality of the performers and buying tickets for all the 5 concerts would be the way to go.

Festival Subscription Tickets can be purchased through the festival website for either three, four or five concerts, with the following discounts:

3 concerts 10% discount

4 concerts 15% discount

5 concerts 20% discount
