While it used to be popular grafitti almost everywhere in previous decades -and with good reason – we no longer see the slogan ’Yankee go home!’ used that often.
European and other people of the world have become more understanding and discriminating about the world we live in and now differentiate between ordinary and good ‘Yankees’ and utter losers – the war-mongering old imperialist type like George W Stupid.
Mitt Romney, the Republican presidential candidate – presently trying to convince people outside the US that he is not as stupid as he seems to be-is definitely one of the later. There are no - if you will excuse the pun – ‘mitt’-igating circumstances.
The cries being heard across Europe could not be clearer – they are explicit in their opprobrium for Mitt Romney - Opportunist Romney Go Home! Vote scrounger and Political Opportunist Romney Go Home! Get out of Europe!
The influential and respected German paper the ‘Süddeutschen Zeitung’ had a whole article describing what a complete twit Romney is and what a disaster he would be as a US president. http://www.sueddeutsche.de/politik/mitt-romney-in-israel-schon-disqualifiziert-1.1425937
The article says that while normally ‘travel broadens the mind’- with Mitt Romneys the opposite seems to have happened. One could also make the case that there is perhaps not much mind to broaden! The paper said that almost everything the presidential candidate did in Jerusalem, and the UK fuels the impression that he is deep in oever his head. He does not even try to understand how complicated the situation in the Middle East is – instead, Romney paints the crisis region in black and white: Israel is good, the rest – Palestinians and mullahs in Iran – are bad and should all be much nicer than they are!
The paper concludes that the trip to Israel may help Romney in the short term – however in the long term, the Republicans have done their damage. The Middle East needs the United States as mediator and honest arbitor and as such, this ‘would-be president’ has has already disqualified himself as a serious contender.
Romney is scheduled to meet with Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski later today .
The former Massachusetts governor Romney has wanted to strengthen his foreign policy credentials but it has been a disasterous, rough and rocky trip abroad for the Mitt.
We do not wish him well in the presidential elections.
