‘Seefestspiele Berlin’ it is called.
On an outdoor stage, right next to the waterside of the famous Berliner Wannsee Lake, Mozart’s THE MAGIC FLUTE will be performed starting this evening August 11th with intermittant productions up until the 28th. http://www.seefestspiele-berlin.de/
The whole set will be produced on a pyramide-shaped structure as stage, and this will sit right-on the waterfront.
Katharina Thalbach is in overall command and stage director while the musical side is led by Judith Kubitz the conductor.
While the three major opera house of Berlin are more or less on holidays in August, this would be a good time to take in some great outdoor organized singing and screaming while in Berlin.
This is a new production of this classic opera The Magic Flute or Die Zauberflöte – the only German opera he ever wrote and which was first presented in Vienna in 1791. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Magic_Flute

The audience will be part of a grand open-air opera romantic location lake-side – an event they will certainly never forget – especially if it keeps raining!
Organizers have said the show will go on – rain or shine – and seeing as how this has been the very worst/wurst summer in Berlin in living memory we can advise this evening’s crowd to take umbrellas and other rain gear perhaps even swimming suits! http://www.toytowngermany.com/lofi/index.php/t138102.html
Daniel Barenboim and his West Eastern Divan Orchestra will produce Beethoven’s 9th symphony outside in Berlin also on Sunday 21st of August – dont miss that one! http://www.west-eastern-divan.org/?id=56
