December 16th – Happy Birthday Ludwig van Beethoven ! Live Classical Piano in Berlin with Beatrice Berrut piano and Camille Thomas on cello playing Beethoven and Brahms Monday 19th Dec. at 2030 hrs– Piano Salon Christophori

December 15th, 2011
Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn on December 16th 1770.

Even though no actual authenticated record of the date of his birth exists, the registry of his baptism, in a Roman Catholic service at the Parish of St. Regius in Bonn made on 17 December, 1770 survives.
Infants born in Northern Germany at this time were traditionally baptised the day after their birth in the Catholic Rhine country, and it is known that Beethoven’s family and his teacher Johann Albrechtsberger celebrated his birthday on 16 December, and consequently most scholars accept that the 16th December, 1770 is Beethoven’s date of birth.
We would like to thereby wish him – where-ever he may be, if in composers heaven or elsewhere – the very best salutations and thank him for especially his great oevre in the piano field.

Dear Friends of the Piano Salon Christofori -the last concerts of the year are upon us and this coming Monday December the 19th at 2030hrs we will present a a special chamber concert with Camille Thomas on cello and piano at the Beatrice Berrut in a Brahms & Beethoven sonata evening.
Camille Thomas counts as the new French super star of the cello and is just as popular as the Swiss pianist Beatrice Berrut –  two of the greatest violinists of the age -Gidon Kremer and Shlomo Mintz – selected them to accompany them for their American tour .
We can expect a very high standard for this concert, chamber music at its very best in a charming and warm atmosphere, as always at the Salon.
The program includes of course the most beautiful and most famous cello sonata of them all – namely the Brahms E minor sonata and Beethoven’s 2nd Sonata.
A look at the websites of the musicians is very worthwhile:

www.beatriceberrut.com

As usual you can reserve seats at www.konzertfluegel.com / N_konzerte.html and to cancel them by entering a minus sign before the number of places on re-entry well.
There is ample parking directly in front of the salon on the premises of the bank buildings. The entrance is wheel-chair accessible.
