Franz Beckenbauer, the world renown German football coach, manager, and former international player -  aka ‘Der Kaiser’ or  Emperor  because of both his elegant leadership style and his dominance on the football pitch- is in the news this week, but hardly for the right reasons.

One Week of World Cup South Africa – Argentina + Mexico shine – France shamelessly defeated

Friday, June 18th, 2010

Berlin/ Cape Town / Johannesburg  18-06-2010
Yesterday at the World Cup – France’s ‘ Les Blues’ suffered a lacklustre defeat by glorius Mexico.
I cannot remember a team ever playing less for their manager than this French team did for Monsieur Domenech last night.
It seemed that the whole French team, with the exception of Ribery and Malouda were asleep – they lost possession and simply did [...] Continue Reading…

=======================================================
After 768 Votes the ‘OTA-Berlin Constituency Blog’ pits the Netherlands as winners against runners-up Argentina in this completely subjective and un-scientific poll.
We wanted simply to have peopel have their say in what is truely a great international sporting event – and unlike other polls which most of the time are based on betting-pools, casinos and gambling syndicates.
To these ‘losers’ who waste their money ‘betting’ [...] Continue Reading…

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

Berlin/Werder Bremen/ Cape Town / Johannesburg  17-06-2010

Everyone had heard of Michael Ballack’s injury and his absence from the German World Cup team in South Africa , along with the national team’s extreme youth and the paucity of any veterans to rely on.

However surprisingly the team has done very well indeed thus far – and due largely due to the fresh football intelligence and art [...] Continue Reading…
