Alice Went to Wonderland – You Can Go to Bar 25 in BERLIN

Friday, July 30th, 2010

Berlin  30-07-2010

You can enter another world without falling into a rabbit hole. Bar 25 certainly exists in real life, in Berlin to be exact, but the feeling inside the mostly-outdoor club is that it exists on another planet.

The multi-cabin complex of vice looks so much like Never-land – Micheal Jackson (R.I.P.) would have been envious. Thanks to its unique appearance and bizarre [...] Continue Reading…

Continue Reading…

The police did not disclose the make or the year of manufacture of the bus but did say it was not particularly old – [...] Continue Reading…

Glenn Gould the famous Canadian Bach interpreter famously stated in the 1960’s that the ‘concert-hall’ was dead. His position was well known and much discussed at the time and with hindsight has proved resoundedly to be incorrect.

Gould’s position had more to do with his own personal aversion to the gruelling and often inhuman pressure that professional classical soloists like himself had [...] Continue Reading…

Berlin 23-07-2010

Daniel Barenboim does it – sort of.

Well Daniel Baranboim did the Beethoven Piano Sonata marathon in London – it was not Bach nor cello, nor in one sitting – but you get the idea.

Pieter Wispelwey does them still and now in Berlin we have a chance to encounter and live our own Bach Cello Suite Marathon – and what a great [...] Continue Reading…

(Cafe

Anna Blum)

(picture of the trank-shelf)

(Berliner

‘A coward dies a thousand deaths… a soldier dies but once’
Commemorations in Berlin today marked the anniversary of the failed plot to assassinate the cunning-coward Hitler.

The ceremonies began with a church service at the ‘Ploetzensee Memorial Center’ – formally a Berlin prison and the site of nearly 3,000 executions – direct victims of the [...] Continue Reading…
