After a closing ceremony which the Guardian is calling ‘a raucous pageant of popular culture’ – in fact it was really nothing more than a tedious and chauvinist UK propaganda for has-been ‘culture’ of the 1960’s -very similar in fact like the opening ceremony had been.http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2012/aug/13/olympic-games-closing-ceremony-culture

Conductor Daniel Barenboim will today receive the first ever ‘Willy-Brandt International Prize’.

The prize is, presented by the Social Democratic Party of Germany /SPD to honour the memory of SPD German politician Willy Brandt, mayor of West Berlin from 1957 to 1966 and Chancellor of West Germany from 1969 til 1974.
