The gap between the UK and the rest of the Europe is widening.
The Conservative government of David Cameron -in future to be referred to ‘arms-dealer merchant of death David Cameron’ – have threated to torpedo the upcoming EU budget summit and ostensibly the visit yesterday by German Bundes Chancellor Merkel was supposed to mediate this.
It must have been some awkward discussion because [...] Continue Reading…

Angela Merkel
In an article published yesterday, the increasingly unreliable UK Guardian , written by Dan Milmo, ‘industrial editor’ , openly blames German chancellor, Angela Merkel for the collapse of the BAE-EADS merger talks.
The article called “Angela Merkel blamed for collapse of £28bn BAE-EADS merger” claims that “sources” say German chancellor was key factor in decision to terminate talks. – http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2012/oct/10/angela-merkel-bae-eads-merger

Exactly one year ago this blog published a picture of a very large poster which was produced to oppose the bank-bailout which were then being planned in the EU and satirizing the state of affairs – Merkel and French President at the time -Sarkozy – pulling the strings.
These so-called PIIGS countries are the scapegoat, or have become the sacrificial lamb in the [...] Continue Reading…

The annual report on ‘German reunification’ was delivered in Berlin yesterday by Germany’s Interior Minister Friedrich – and it concedes that while progress has been made to reconcile the economic differences there still remains a lot of work to be done.
In an article entitled ‘Germany’s former East still lagging behind’ the German Deutsche Welle reports about the report….and says ….” Even 22 years [...] Continue Reading…

The Guardian, which up until 1959 went through life known as ‘The Manchester Guardian’ is a British national daily along with its Sunday sister publication, ‘The Observer’.
It is generally considered ‘progressive’ and/or ‘left-leaning’ – except in the case of Julian Assange and WikiLeaks where it takes a completely vile and opportunistic position. [see below*]
It also often shares articles with the American newspaper [...] Continue Reading…

All eyes were on the constitutional court president, Andreas Vosskühle, who delivered what many believed to be an historical verdict some hours ago in the German city of Karlsruhe.
Amongst his rather stern and dour colleagues -in what looked like some kind of kitsch Dutch orange-clad football supporter outfits – he read out the courts findings. [ see foto in link to Sueddeutsche article below!]

Chancelor Angela Merkel leaves for China tomorrow accompanied by a usual large entourage of business delegates just so that there can be no confusion about the actual nature of the visit.
When she recently visited Canada for a day visit, she did the same thing. http://www.ota-berlin.de/blog/08/16/merkel-meets-harper-cunning-bambi-meets-dour-elmer-fudd-ota-berlin-constituency-blog-commentary-by-emil-hoogensteyn/

merkel ota-berlinGerman Chancelor Angela Merkel arrived in Ottawa earlier today on a whirlwind 24-hour visit to Canada.
”Euro crisis ‘elephant in the room’ for Harper-Merkel talks” – is what the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, the CBC is calling this two-people summit.
The government news broadcaster has as its website headline – ‘No-nonsense’ politicians also likely to discuss trade and global security during chancellor’s visit’ http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/story/2012/08/14/pol-merkel-visit-advancer-wednesday.html

Yesterday, on Monday, the American ratings agency Moody’s lowered the credit futures from “stable” to “negative” of three EU countries – Germany, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
Germans are in no mood to deal with opportunist Moodys, a detached and biased market analyst based on another continent who thinks it can just run rough-shod over other peoples – in this case European – economies. [...] Continue Reading…

Angela Merkel met the newly appointed French President Hollande in Berlin this evening.
It was more a getting-to-know each other type of meeting and an opportunity to again clear the air, or at least clean the air of the former French President, Sarkozy.
President Hollande’s trip began in rather inauspicious circumstances when the President’s plane was apparently hit by lightning climbing out of Paris [...] Continue Reading…
