Prenzlauer Berg als ehemaliger Bezirk am Rande der Berliner Ost-West-Grenze hat auch schon vor der Teilung Deutschlands eine lange Geschichte durchgemacht. Die Industrialisierung in den 20er und 30er Jahren führte sehr viele Firmen und Unternehmer nach Prenzlauer Berg. Viele der alten Industriegebäude sind zwar heute noch erhalten, jedoch die meisten im 2. Weltkrieg zerstört worden.
