Prenzlauer Berg als ehemaliger Bezirk am Rande der Berliner Ost-West-Grenze hat auch schon vor der Teilung Deutschlands eine lange Geschichte durchgemacht. Die Industrialisierung in den 20er und 30er Jahren führte sehr viele Firmen und Unternehmer nach Prenzlauer Berg.
