Unexploded World War II bomb found in Potsdam – successfully defused – by OTA-Berlin Contsituency Blog contributor Mr F v d Plas

Circa 10,000 Potsdamers were evacuated yesterday from their city, just west of Berlin after the discovery of an unexploded 250kg World War II bomb which was subsequently successfully defused.

The 250kg turned out to be of US manufacture and  was discovered   in a residential Potsdam area, wrote the paper.

Interessante Gebäude in Berlin # 18 – Friedrichwerdersche Kirche

Die Friedrichwerdersche Kirche steht gegenüber vom Auswärtigen Amt am Werderschen Markt des Friedrichwerders. Das Wort Werder bezieht sich auf eine Flussinsel bzw. auf einen gegen Wasser geschütztes oder schützendes Land, ähnlich wie der Wehr. In Berlin allerdings, hat sich das Wort Deich durchgesetzt.
