Kurt Sanderling, a legend and doyen of German conductors, has died at the age of 98, just one day before his 99th birthday.

His last public concert with “his” orchestra, the ‘Berlin Symphony Orchestra’ had been on 19th May in 2002, when he was 89 whereupon he decided to retire from public life.

‘Seefestspiele Berlin’ it is called.

 

On an outdoor stage, right next to the waterside of the famous Berliner Wannsee Lake, Mozart’s THE MAGIC FLUTE will be performed starting this evening August 11th with intermittant productions up until the 28th.  http://www.seefestspiele-berlin.de/

 

The whole set will be produced on a pyramide-shaped structure as stage, and this will sit right-on the waterfront.
