The Argentinean/Israeli/Palestinian [yes he holds a honourary Palestinian passport!] conductor and pianist Daniel Barenboim will today receive the Dresden-Preis from the hands of former German Federal President Richard von Weizsacker.  

The prize is awarded to those who try to foster friendship and for their efforts to end conflict between states and peoples.

World famous pianist/conductor and peace activist Daniel Barenboim and the mostly still amateur youth musicians of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra have won this year’s ‘Westphalian Peace Prize.’

The prize,  presented every 2nd year, with a finanical prize of 50,000 Euros  is awarded to either individuals and/or groups of young people who have shown exemplary acts of friendship and reconciliation.

Opera Review – ‘Metanoia – über das denken hinaus’ – World premier at Staatsoper in Berlin – conducted by Daniel Barenboim

The first new production at the ‘new’ temporary ‘Deutsche Staatsoper im Schiller Theartre’ in Berlin opened this evening to mixed reviews or if you are reading this ‘mixed-up’ reviews. 

 The opera, called ‘Metanoia – über das denken hinaus’ which could be loosely translated as ‘ Metanoia – thinking outside the box’ is a world premiere and has been composed by Jens Joneleit.
