The runners-up team of last season’s Champions League – who lost on the slimmest of margins to Chelsea – the German team Bayern München won their opening fixture 2-1 over Valencia at their Allianz Arena.

They thereby became the 3rd German team to open their CL qualifying games with a win – they are Fußball-Club Gelsenkirchen-Schalke 04, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern München.

We will report about Hertha later in the week on this blog however ‘the talk of the town’ including Berlin is how all football fans and the Bundesliga are obsessed with the Bayern München vs. Borussia Dortmund rivalry.

Bundesliga restarts after Winter pause – Bayern München & Hertha Berlin lose – Schalke 04 wins

The Bundesliga Season opened after its winter pause with  a loss for league leaders Bayern and 11th place Hertha Berlin, and a win for Schalke today over Stutgart 3-1.
